Final Assignment!
Final Assignment Choice. You may choose to take the Photography or Film final. You DO NOT have to do both. Either way the assignment is due on Monday 6/3,
Photography:
Find an Photography that you really like their photos. It may be that they resemble your style of picture taking or the style you would someday be able to portray in your own work.
Next you are going to do some research about your artist. Find out any information that you find important about your artist and fill me in on them. This really only needs to be about a paragraph. Basically what do you want me to know about your Photographer.
Then I want you to tell me what it is that you like about your artist and how you are going to try to use some of that Photographers style in your own photos. What is your vision.
Next you are going to go out and take photos that are similar in style to your Photographer. I want to see similarities, the subject does not have to be the same. It could be the simple elements within a photo that are similar. You should take about 100 pictures for this assignment.
Then you are going to choose your favorite 20 photos, edit them only enough to enhance them. Don’t drown them out with crazy filters or making them too bright. You should do this in Photoshop. I want you to turn in the Photoshop doc along with your JPEG’s.
When you are finished with this part I want you to go back to your paper and write to me about how your picture taking went. Was it what you envisioned? If so how or how not? What worked for you? What were you happy with and what do you think you need to work on when it comes to taking good quality photos.
Drop Box everything in ONE folder with your name on it and the word FINAL.
Film:
For the film assignment you have 2 options.
1- Make a one and a half minute film telling beginning film students things that you think are important about filmmaking that you wish you would have known that maybe you found out on your own with experimenting or maybe that a-ha moment you discovered sometime throughout this year. You can choose from one of the following topics, not everyone can have the same topic so please tell me once you decide what you want to do so I can cross that topic off the list:
Lighting
Speaking/Volume/Background noise
Angles
Acting
Script Writing
Editing and Effects
Using the good camera
Using a tripod effectively
Location and backgrounds
The Use of After Effects
The Use of Photoshop
2-You can choose to make a 1 minute film showing upcoming 8th graders what it is like to be a high school student. (Your film can be no longer then 1 minute or you will lose points). You are basically showing and explaining to an upcoming 8th grader what it is like at the high school-taking one part about the school day. TRY TO KEEP THIS A POSITIVE THING. You can choose from one of the following topics not everyone can have the same topic so please tell me once you decide what you want to do so I can cross that topic off the list:
The beginning of the school day-Waiting to get in the building before school starts and what they should do once they enter the building-go to locker and the options of getting breakfast, sitting in the commons of walking around with friends.
A walk through of the building- what classes are in what halls, where bathrooms are at-basically a tour on camera of the school building.
What it is like to go through lunch- how to get a lunch, where to sit, how to pay what is in what lines-explain the 2 food lines and salad bar-where it is located, talk about what is good about the school lunches, what do you like and why.
What being a good student is like. How should students behave during class and what should they do when they first come to class. Walk through a typical class period-choose one class.
Sports-what it is like to go to a sporting event. You can use part of your basketball footage here, but now that you know after effects better you need to enhance this and make it much better.
Helpful tips to make it through the school day.
Your favorite things about school, be specific and show examples.

Sci-Fi's Due Monday
Hello Everyone,
I can't wait to see all of your Sci-Fi's. This is one of my favorite categories. The creativity really comes out here. Which I always love to see. Let me know if you need any help over the weekend.
Good Luck and Have a good weekend,
Mrs. Schneid
