Critiques:
All good artists stop and take some time to reflect on what they have done or created when an artwork is completed. I call this assessing or critiquing our art. So with a lot of our assignments we will do just that-take a look at what we created and reflect on the strengths and weaknesses. So as a guide I want you to answer the following questions about what you have created within your collage.
Click on comment on the bottom of today’s date and post a comment. I would sign in first at the upper right hand side and then come back to this page and post your answers in the comments section. Bookmark the blog page as you will need this page a lot throughout this year.
Question 1: Take a look at your artwork. I want you to list at least 2 strengths about your artwork. For example: You can talk about the photo’s you took if you feel that those turned out really well. Or, if you really like what you created with the collage layout you can talk about that. Use at least 3 art terms when talking about your artwork.
Question 2: Now view your artwork in a different way. If you were walking by your artwork as a viewer how would you view your artwork. Is it interesting to look at, does it grab your attention? If so what parts are interesting or grab your attention? Describe in detail the way your feel about your final piece from an outside perspective.
I think the pattern I used while making my artwork is great ! I spelt out the word “LIVE” and put the alphabet in order . I didn’t want to do an abstract placement of my letters because then you wouldn’t really get the point of the letters. I also like my background . I believe that I really put my own touch on to the project . It may have been abstract it fits me ! I love my final piece . I’m proud of it,
ReplyDeleteI’d view my own art work as neat and or creative. I feel that the background and pictures would grab someones attention! Its colorful & something people would be curious to read. If I were someone else I think I would describe my artwork as “one of a kind” or like no other .. It may not look like a master piece but I don't think anyone would come up with an idea to make the same thing.
Very good Nicole. Thanks for a good post.
ReplyDeleteMrs. S
Two strengths about my art work is i feel like i was creative with it and i feel like i took good pictures.
ReplyDeleteI think my project catches the eye because its big and colorful.
I think my collage has a unique shape to it and it also has many amazing pictures. I feel that the fact of me using people was a unique idea that was taken. I feel like most of my photos were nicely taken and very welly spread across a span of oneness. I feel my collage is the most amazing thing i've done in this class.
ReplyDeleteI think that if this was stuck in the hallway it'd be an eye catcher. With bright colors and pictures that you don't see often. I feel as though i did very well on this project, and i have others agreeing as well. I'm very happy with this project.
One of my strengths on my art would be the shapes of the pictures. I think I did a good job at finding good images to make letters out of. Another strength is the rule of thirds, I really tried to take the pictures following that rule.
ReplyDeleteI think its not that amazing, I like how you have to figure out what it is. I like the part at the bottom where it spells cats. I think I did a good job.
1. My frist Strength is my photos that I took turned out awesome to me because I love them so much. My second Strength is the colors on the background are sweet to me the collage is balanced in color. The contrast some of them are light and some are dark.
ReplyDelete2. The 2 photos that grab my attention are the Face and the Football T-shrit. My Yellow words are Exciting to look at because they are great words. Well I guess I feel like a little Shy I'm not sure what's going to happen to me.
I thought that I did very well with this project. Most of my pictures had great balance and colors to each photo. The pictures that I liked the most were taken in my backyard and my room. They looked even better because in iPhoto I edited them with the sepia and contrast. Another strength was the pictures were not all the same shape, I made them different from each other.
ReplyDeleteIf I walked by my artwork as a viewer I would probably think something about the colors of the photo's. I would of thought they were interesting to look at because of the nature involved with them and the landscaping. As a viewer I would of thought that the collage could of been more creative though. Another thing that would of grabbed my attention would be the crispness of the photos.

ReplyDeleteI think one of my strengths was the layout, which was a sail boat. It looked interesting. My photos had a lot of color to them. I didn't have a pattern of where my letters were placed, because I think it looks better when there random. I like the emphasis on some of my shapes.
ReplyDeleteIf I was walking by I would think that the pictures are very colorful. It might be a little boring. I would think the shape of the college is creative. I liked how the photos were balanced. The letters were creative, but you can still tell which letters they are. It looked like there was thought, and effort put into it not just thrown together. I like the way the background makes it sail boat and water pop out more.
Question 1: I think my strengths in my artwork were the texture and color! Also my pattern was unique. I turned up the saturation in all of my letters except the ones that spelled out my name, those were in black and white. At the top of my page I spelled out my name. Also to add texture I dipped a sponge in white paint and dabbed it on the background which I painted pink.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: If I viewed my artwork from a different perspective I would think it looks very creative. The sponged white paint would definitely grab my attention as a different texture. Also the cursive alphabet is interesting, along with the letters at the top that spell out my name. I think it would grab my attention and make me try to figure out what it spells.
One of the strengths of my art work is the colors. I think that the colors in my pictures have good contrast. Another strength I think I have is the angles. I thought I had interesting angles in some of my pictures. I like the background of my collage because I liked my idea for it and I think the colors go well with the colors of the pictures that I have on my collage.
ReplyDeleteI think that my artwork is interesting and grabs attention. I do think I need to work on what I take pictures of, because I think some of the subjects aren't interesting enough and are of other pictures. If I saw my artwork from an outside perspective, I think my pictures would grab my attention, but I would notice that the subjects aren't that interesting.
Well,in my artwork I think my best strengths would be me making a sort a crackled type background. I think it brings out the colors in my photos. Another of my strongsuits would be the way i took my photos. I think i took pretty good photos.
ReplyDeleteIf i walked by my artwork i believe that i would have to stop and take a look at it. I believe that the background makes the colors stand out to catch your eye.

ReplyDeleteTwo things that I believe are a strength of my artwork are the pictures, and the background. I really like the angles and quality of the pictures I took. The angles offer a unique point of view to a lot of pictures. The background I have, is made up of confetti sized scraps of pictures. They are glued around the actual letters throughout the artwork. The scraps offer put an emphasis on differences of color.
If I were walking by my artwork, I believe i would stop to see it for a minute. It’s intriguing, because the scraps of pictures would attract me. The different colors would attract me. I believe my artwork could have had a better border, or the letters could have been spaced out slightly more.
Question 1 : I think my 2 strengths in my art work where making the background a collage from magazines and also the pictures i took. The background gave it an abstract look that brought more attention to the artwork. I also took pictures at certain angles to make the picture look more interesting. Also i didn't just place them all the same way. I glued some on side ways ways and different directions. Those are my 2 strengths i think i had in my work.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: If i was walking past my artwork i view my work as pretty good but i could have done better. I think i really didn't have a good idea on how i was going to make it look so i just went with the flow of what i was doing. I think i should have done something else and it could have looked a lot better than what it is now .I think its interesting to look at because of the collage in the back round that i made from magazine pages. The way i feel about my final piece is I'm proud of what i did but i think i could have came up with a better idea on what it should look like and layout

ReplyDeleteQuestion 1: I think that my two strengths in my artwork are the quality of the pictures, they are eye-catching because of the varying colors making it very colorful. I also think that my collage is unique because of the shape it makes and the border surrounding it. There is limited space which makes it more interesting because the pictures are overlapping making an interesting collage.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: If I was to walk past my artwork, I think that I would think it was eye-catching and interesting because of the design. It has a stem and a worm disconnected which is uncommon but creative. I believe they would enjoy the border that gives different words that start with each letter of the alphabet. I am proud of the work I have done. It was very creative and I enjoyed putting in so much effort an thought to produce it.

1.) One of my strengths with my artwork was definitely my unique pictures. They were different from the way most people took them, with the letters being more defined and having better contrast.
ReplyDelete2.) My 'artwork' isn't particularly interesting or full of pizazz, but it does catch your eye. The interesting part isn't the flat black paint depicting a terminal or the randomly placed letters that was supposed to be a keyboard, but it was the "fsck" in the terminal. It catches the eye because people assume it's something bad, but it's simply a Unix 'File System Check' command.
Two things that I liked about my art project is that I used my shoe for the layout. It has a nice pattern to it. A lot of the pictures are colorful. And it has nice organic feeling to it.
ReplyDeleteAhhh very good, i like how he used a converse shoe for the layout, ahhh and the pictures, very pretty.
Two strengths I think I have is the creativity part of it all. After about 20 minutes I can actually think of some pretty good ideas. It's either fast or good, and I picked good. I also think I have a good eye for catching things. Finding the letters for example. 20/26 were easy I'd say. The other 6 were the tough ones. You know, the one's you have a snowball's chance of finding.
ReplyDeleteI'd say that my project catches some attention. I mean 80% of the other ones I see are generally all the same shape. Not all, I see some pretty cool ones to, and I'm not saying any of them suck. But mine is two pretty awesome Metallica bolts crossing, making an X, both colored different, and all the letters fit on mine. It seems kinda cool to me.
Question 1: I think that one of my strengths was my layout. My collage layout is very abstract by using triangular shapes as a background. My other strength would be how i glued my pictures on my background. My pictures were glued in a unique way. Instead of gluing them straight across i glued them at an angle, and scattered. This doesn't make it look boring. Even though there was a lot going on, you can still tell that the pictures are in alphabetical order.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: From an outside perspective I would think that it was a very busy piece of art but at the same time it is abstract. The triangular background would make me notice it and make it stick out from others. I would also think that the photography was very unique.
Question 1:I think my photos turned out really well. They were very appealing to the eye. Most of my photos had good light contrast. I also think my Collage layout was appealing and interesting. I made the shape of a sailboat and had my photos act as the sail. I made sure that i had taken all the white out of the paper by using a vibrant blue color. My photos have a variety of angles that keep it from looking dull.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: I think it would grab the attention of someone walking by because it is in an interesting and unusual shape. It is different from the basic boring collage. It should keep the attention because of all the unusual angles i have. I also think that my photos are stung enough to keep a persons attention on their own. Overall I think my artwork is a unique quality piece of art.
Question 1: My first strength about my artwork is that it is visually intriguing. My second strength is that most of my photos had a balance in contrast. The layout of my pictures is also interesting because of how the pictures make an eye.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: I think it would grab someone's attention because how it looks as though it is staring into your eye. It can be very attention grabbing and if I was a spectator, I would like it.
question 1. I like my artwork because the pictures are on a 3 demential letter, and its a whole bunch of little letters making up a big letter than my two letters make up a word. I think this is creative and different. The other thing i like all my pictures are on cool angles and they make you think about what you are looking at. I have never taken pic’s at the angles like that so it was cool to change it up.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2. If i was a random passer by i would first read the words lace up and be like ohh thats cool but than i would notice its made up of little pic’s and i would want to look at all the little pic’s that made up the big word. I Think that people would like it because it’s not like everyone else’s and im not used to seeing things like that.
Question one : My art work is beautiful! The layout of my collage fits together very well and is very appealing to the eye. One of my strengths of my art work is its color, the fact that I put it on a solid black background makes the colors look more vibrant. Another strength is that some of my pictures were cut at some type of angle. Weather it was a wave zig zag or just straight it makes it look more mixed and not all one shape mixed together.
ReplyDeleteQuestion two : I think my art work is interesting, and can easily grab attention. Next time I think my pictures will be less straight and centered because it definitely took away from the point of my picture. If I was walking past the show case and I saw my artwork I would stop and look at it, the pattern is very interesting. We’re in Vermilion who doesn’t love an anchor?! Mine definitely isn’t the best but I think it has some really strong points that are appealing to the eye of the viewer.
I feel that two strengths of my artwork would be that my idea was very creative and unique. I really like how I have my collage laid out on my poster. The photos are very visual and appealing. I also like how my ghost is cross-eyed and he has a warm purple body. The ghost looks extremely cool.
ReplyDeleteIf I was viewing my artwork as a viewer I would not even notice it was a ghost. It is interesting to look at, but the viewer would be a little confused, and would have to really look at the image to see it. I really do like how I set up the photos to make a face for the ghost. Also how the images flow off of the poster.
Question 1: Two strengths of my artwork is that nothing is the same on it there are different colors all around. The shapes on it are all original and random I cut so many different things into my paper like i traced my hand and then cut it out on the paper and it looks really good.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: I think that my collage is different it will easily grab attention. Next time I think I will do something people could actually figure out so they dont scratch there head so much when they stop and stare at my amazingly random piece of art.
1. I think a lot of my pictures turned out well. My art work has some nice colors and it I have some unique pictures. The letters were defined and I had some nice contrasts. I think I have a lot of interesting angles.
ReplyDelete2.I think when other people would see my picture they would watch it as an interesting picture and would think about the idea behind the picture, or the reason why I did it in this way. As a viewer I would notice, that this isn't a professional artwork, but also I would like it.
1. I think most of my pictures had good color. Most of them were focused and well taken. My artwork had good shapes and contrast.
ReplyDelete2. Some of the pictures were very blurry and in the center of the picture. It would have been more interesting if it would have been on colored paper. I probably would have been better if the pictures were off center.
1. I think I could do better on my pictures. But some of them had good color, I just need to try harder I guess.I would say my strengths would be that I have a slight creativity.
ReplyDelete2.Yeah I don't think people would really appreciate my artwork. I am not an artist and I do not want to be one. So that is what I think people would think about my art.
In my collage piece I believe that one strength about my artwork was I had an overall theme. My main theme was the adidas symbol. I think another strength to my artwork was my pictures. In my pictures it is easy to see what letters I saw in each of the objects. I believe that the theme to my collage was a creative idea.
ReplyDeleteIf I was walking past my artwork I don’t think it would grab my attention very well. I feel that I left a lot of space white and blank making it plain and boring to look at. If any part of my collage would grab my attention most it would have been the colors that I used on it. An interesting part to my collage is that I had one overall theme to it.
1. Two strength about my artwork was my collage had a good use of white green to make it a jets helmet. the pictures didn't have much pattern but it still turned out nice leaving enough white for the helmet.
ReplyDelete2.If i were to walk by my art the thing that would grab my attention would be just seeing a football helmet. seeing anything to do with sports i would like to see. Also if the person was a jets fan seeing the jets cheer would want them to see it.

ReplyDelete1. My strengths are finding good angles and shapes. My other strength is being able to find good pictures as far as my letters in color, and texture.
ReplyDelete2. I would think about how they look and they would look ok because of the ones that are too flat o look at butt the others have good angles and are creative.
I: The thing that would be the week spots on my collage is that its still showing spots even though there colored its still showing . Some of my pictures are fuzzy I wish I had overlapped my pictures more . The strengths on my collage is the background which is a puzzle , and the color that I had chosen for my project because it goes really well .
ReplyDelete2: The thing that would be the attention getter is the odd ball shape . I like my final collage but it could of been a lot better like the paper not curling up and there not being a hole bunch of glue marks .
1. My strengths about my collage was my pictures are creative and very visual I made a basketball hoop and put pictures in the net and the back bored But some of the pictures couldn't fit in the hoop so it's all over the place.
ReplyDelete2. From a different perspective i think it would get your attention becuase its a unique piece you don't see something like that every day also all the pictures are colorful.
I like a took pretty decent pictures for my collage. I made a volleyball for my collage and I think that turned out pretty well. Some of the strengths in my pictures were the unique angles and finding letters in unexpected places. I also think my pictures weren't boring and had some color to them.
ReplyDeleteI think my artwork is a bit interesting but its nothing to crazy to make it stand out a a lot. But because It’s a volleyball other people who play volleyball might think its more interesting than people who don’t. People might find it interesting on the shape because it’s not just a square and your regular collage.
question 1:One strength about my artwork would be that i can take pictures with good angles. Another strength would be the pictures i took. I think that i did a good job at finding good images to make letters out of. I also like how i took all my pictures and made a flower out of it. A lot of my photos had good color and and balance.
ReplyDeletequestion 2: If i was to walk by my artwork i would think that it was very colorful. it grabs my attention because of the tie-dye that i used on the flower.I think that if i took a little more time on it it could of turned out a little better. But overall i think i did pretty good at it.
Two strengths of my artwork would probably be my creativity and my effort. I really tried making a 3D letter out of my picture collage. Cora, Amanda, & I put them together to say lace up. But I really tried to get it to come out nice, I liked the challenge of figuring out how to make my ideas work.
ReplyDeleteIf I was walking by my artwork and saw it, I would probably stop and wonder what it is exactly. After staring I probably still wouldn't know but I would realize that whoever made it really tried to make their idea turn out in real life. But, that is the way I like it to be, I want people to be able to interpret it their own way as I do myself when I look at it. The red color and 3D idea behind it.
Two strengths of my artwork would be my creativity of my photos and the quality of the photo. I have a lot of color in my photos and I have show good visuals.
ReplyDeleteMy collage stands out a lot because it is very obvious what my picture is
Two strengths of my artwork would be the creativity of the background and the use of the pictures. I think it is a nice background that draws attention because of the different colors right next to each other, and the shapes of the pictures in contrast to the stripes stands out.
ReplyDeleteIf I was walking by it I think it would be hard to see the pictures because of the color compared to the color behind it. If the pictures were black and white I think that would work better, instead of competing with the background.
1.) I think one of my strengths is I have a some good depth in some of my pictures. My second strength is I have a lot of variety of colors, and shades in my photos
ReplyDelete2.) With my collage it is a very young theme with it being a cartoon theme, I think it stands out a lot.
In my pics I used light really well like the one for D I took a pic of something on a wall right next to a window and it kinda washed out the pic looked really cool. I also had some great angles.
ReplyDeleteI think that my collage had a really cool theme. If someone saw my art work they would have said the idea was cool but i needed to take more time to develop it.
1. Some of my strengths were finding the letters in different things and strange areas. I also was able to bring out more of the picture to direct the viewers attention to the letter. I think the photo of mine that turned out the best was the 'V'. It reflects the colours outside of the photograph. My collage plan was to make a bubble pipe, and each bubble was a conglomeration of my photographs.
ReplyDelete2. If I was a some random person that was looking at my work I would think of it as being that of one who is inexperienced. I think the parts that would grab their attention would be the colours of all things and how they pop out. I truly feel that I did not replicate what I had intended to do and that my execution of what was to be done was rather poor. I could have done much better and should have.
1. I was very happy with the outcome of most of my photos after i edited them. I liked my angles and the exposure of soft and hard light. Some of my pictures came out blurry, but when i edited the blurry ones it still looked good because i got it from a unique angle. The things i took pictures of to form letters, I thought was very creative and I only think one person had one of the same picture as me, but they were from different angles. I liked what i did with the collage, it wasn't plain and it grabbed my attention.
ReplyDelete2. I think if a random stranger walked past my artwork it would grab their attention. They pictures are all around the collage, they rent together and in the middle or in one spot so thats what makes it more interesting, and there wasn't a white background. I think i could've came up with something better to do with the collage if i spent a little bit more time thinking of something, but all in all I think its pretty good.
1.I think some of the strengths were the angles of some of the photos and thinking outside the box to find letters. I also think I did a good job at using the rule of thirds.
ReplyDelete2. I think it’s interesting in a bad way because the pictures look good but it seems like the drawing of the background took away from the collage as a whole
Question 1: Take a look at your artwork. I want you to list at least 2 strengths about your artwork. For example: You can talk about the photo’s you took if you feel that those turned out really well. Or, if you really like what you created with the collage layout you can talk about that. Use at least 3 art terms when talking about your artwork. my strengths are creativity and angles while taking the photos i looked for good angles and areas to shoot from . The photos i took were ok not the greatest i had to improvise a lot .
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2: Now view your artwork in a different way. If you were walking by your artwork as a viewer how would you view your artwork. Is it interesting to look at, does it grab your attention? If so what parts are interesting or grab your attention? Describe in detail the way your feel about your final piece from an outside perspective.i think the art work would grab attention because my collage sucks and looks horrible the pictures make it look somewhat ok other wise it is horrible the piece in my opinion is the worst in the class the one that are just glued on look better .
