Designing a Banner

Things to keep in mind when creating page layouts:

1. Unclutter/clean area-
          Think about how you want your area to look.  Do you want to have everything in line and neat looking?  You need to have a master plan, you can not go at this blindly.

2. Balance- Sometimes it is nice to have some blank white space in a layout, but too much white space is not interesting. 

3. Think about dividing the page into thirds-you will have more visual appeal

1. most important elements spaced more or less evenly within vertical or horizontal thirds
2. most important elements concentrated in the upper or lower third of the page
3. most important elements centered on one of the points where lines intersect after visually dividing the page into thirds horizontally and vertically

4.Think about using 2 or more of the same design elements (example: if you decide to use circles as part of your background, use multiple circle design elements) 

5.Think about your color choice.  And your text choice-remember no more then 2 texts per page design layout.  (All large text needs to show effects)

5. How will you input/layout your photo's? (example:Lasso, clone, square border with drop shadows, etc.)  You need to think about this before you begin.  Also, do you want some pictures to be larger then others-this could add more interest to your artwork. 

You job today: MONDAY 10/15/12

      * Go onto the internet and I want you to research Good Graphic Design Banner Designs.
      * Once you have found a good example of a banner I want you to draw out on a piece of
         paper what your banner is going to look like (what is your theme, tell me your colors,
         what are you going to do to the pictures to make them look unique and uniformed).
     * Then come up to my desk and
         Explain to me 3 elements within the Banner you chose that you like and tell me how
         you are going to use those elements in your Banner using Photoshop.  Make sure you
         can talk to me about this before you come up to my desk.  At this time you will show
         me your sketch and explain to me what your banner is going to look like.  I will then
         give you approval.
      *Then you will begin the page layout design for the Banner in Photoshop before you put
        any photos into it.
